Williams has played in 57 games in his first four years in the NFL and he has 172 tackles, 5 sacks, 1 forced fumble, 1 fumble recovery, 5 passes defensed and 3 tackles for a loss. Williams played under Romeo Crennel in Cleveland, and that likely played a huge factor in him getting signed by the Chiefs.

He is 6’8″, 315 pounds, so he gives the Chiefs a lot of size on the exterior of the D. He could probably also help out inside if the need arises for the Chiefs in 2012.

The Kansas City Chiefs selected WR Junior Hemingway out of Michigan with the 238th overall pick (7th round) of the 2012 NFL Draft. Hemingway is a big guy at 6’1″, 222 pounds and he runs a 4.52 40. Hemingway will likely get a shot to handle some of the dirty work over the middle of the field. Despite not having great speed, Hemingway had a knack for making big plays for Michigan despite having sub par QBs throwing him the ball. Hemingway played in 13 games for Michigan last year and he caught 34 passes for 699 yards (20.6 avg) with 4 TD grabs. He played in 48 games in five years at Michigan and he caught 88 passes for 1,638 yards (18.6 avg) with 11 TD grabs. Hemingway could be a steal for the Chiefs.

In four years with the Aztecs, Long played in 49 games in which he had 162 tackles, 17.5 tackles for a loss, 9 sacks, 1 forced fumble and a fumble he recovered in the end zone for a TD. Long is going to be a longshot to make the Chiefs in 2012.

The Kansas City Chiefs have selected RB Cyrus Gray out of Texas A&M with the 182nd overall pick (6th round) of the 2012 NFL Draft. Gray is a solid all-purpose back as he is a willing blocker, a good receiver out of the backfield and he has the speed to get the corner in the NFL. Gray played in 11 games (5 starts) for Texas A&M last year and he carried the ball 198 times for 1,045 yards (5.3 ypc) with 12 TD runs. He also caught 31 passes for 239 yards (7.7 avg) with 3 TD grabs last year. Gray played in 49 games (29 starts) in his four years with the Aggies and he carried the ball 632 times for 3,298 yards (5.2 avg) with 30 TD runs. He also caught 103 passes for 776 yards (7.5 avg) with 6 TD grabs in college. Gray also is a willing special teams player. I think the Chiefs got a steal with this pick.

The Kansas City Chiefs selected CB/SS DeQuan Menzie out of Alabama with the 146th overall pick (5th round) of the 2012 NFL Draft. Menzie is 6’0″, 198 pounds and he runs a 4.66 40. Due to his lack of speed and physical style of play, Menzie will likely be a strong safety in the pros. Menzie isn’t a big time playmaker when the ball is in the air. He played in 13 games (all starts) for the Crimson Tide last year and he had 41 tackles, 11 passes broken up, 1 interception (he returned it for a TD), 4 tackles for a loss and 1.5 sacks. Menzie played in 25 games (19 starts) in his two years at Alabama and he had 74 tackles, 15 passes broken up, 1 interception (he returned it for a TD), 9 tackles for a loss and 3.5 sacks. The Chiefs made a solid pick here as Menzie will help with the depth in the secondary and on special teams.

Wylie is only 5’10″, 174 pounds but he runs an amazing 4.33 40. Wylie is super fast and he has the explosive moves to go with it. He tends to get banged up due to his size, but he’s certainly not worried about going over the middle of the field. Wylie played in 13 games (5 starts) for Fresno State last year and he caught 56 passes for 716 yards (12.8 avg) with 1 TD grab. He played in 42 games (5 starts) in his four years at Fresno and he caught 98 passes for 1,327 yards (13.5 avg) with 8 TD grabs. Wylie also returned 41 punts for 553 yards (13.5 avg) with 2 TD returns in his college career. I like this pick for the Chiefs, as he will give them a home run threat every time he touches the ball.
