The Chiefs have shut down safety DaJuan Morgan (chest) and linebacker Justin Rogers (thigh) for the rest of the season.  Morgan played in 13 games for the Chiefs this season and he made 18 tackles while Rogers played in 1 game and he made 1 tackle.  The only area these injuries could possibly hurt the Chiefs is on special teams.

The Chiefs have lost 2nd year TE Brad Cottam for the year due to a cracked bone in his vertebra.  Cottam played in 8 games for the Chiefs this season and he caught 9 passes for 120 yards (13.3 avg).  In his two years with the Chiefs, Cottam has played in 24 games in which he has caught 16 passes for 183 yards (11.4 avg).  This is a shame as Cottam really played well before getting injured against the Browns last Sunday.

The Chiefs have lost running back Kolby Smith for the year as he has been placed on the Injured Reserve List.  Smith played in 4 games for the Chiefs this season and he carried the ball 15 times for 33 yards (2.2 ypc).  He also caught 2 passes for 9 yards (4.5 avg) this year.  The Chiefs will miss him as they can’t afford to lose depth at RB.

The Kansas City Chiefs lose Mike Vrabel indefinitely

The Chiefs have lost 34-year old OLB Mike Vrabel indefinitely with a knee injury.  He has played in 9 games for the Chiefs this season and he has made 33 tackles, has 1 sack, 2 tackles for a loss, forced 1 fumble and he has defensed 3 passes.  Vrabel has been a huge disappointment for the Chiefs this season so they probably won’t miss him too much.

The Chiefs have placed starting right guard Mike Goff on the Injured Reserve List ending his season with a shoulder injury.  Goff played in 8 games for the Chiefs this season (7 starts).  Andy Alleman will replace Goff in the starting lineup.  He has played in 5 games (1 start) for the Chiefs this season.  He has now played in 20 games (5 starts) in his three year NFL career.  This is a bit of a dropoff for the Chiefs.
