The defense won this game for the Chiefs, as they were stellar.  OLB Justin Houston was a monster for the Chiefs in this game with 7 tackles, 2 tackles for a loss, 1.5 sacks, 3 QB hits and 1 fumble recovery.  DE Glenn Dorsey (7 tackles) and CB Brandon Carr (2 tackles, 2 passes defensed and 1 interception) also had solid games for the Chiefs.  The Broncos finished up with 216 yards rushing on 47 carries (4.6 ypc) but they only completed 6 of 22 passes (27.3%) for an amazingly bad 50 yards.

The Chiefs didn’t do much offensively, but enough to win over the Broncos.  Kyle Orton completed 15 of 29 passes for 180 yards without a TD pass or INT.  Dexter McCluster led the way on the ground for the Chiefs in this game with 61 yards rushing on 12 carries (5.1 ypc) with 1 TD run.  He also caught 3 passes for 25 yards in this game.  Thomas Jones pitched in with 42 yards rushing on 15 carries (2.8 ypc) in this game.  WRs Dwayne Bowe (6 rec, 93 yards) and Jonathan Baldwin (3 rec, 27 yards) led the way in the passing game for the Chiefs.  The Chiefs finished up with 106 yards rushing on 30 carries (3.5 ypc) and they also completed 15 of 29 passes (51.7%) for 175 yards as they had possession of the ball for 27:02.  The Chiefs finish the 2011 season with a 7-9 record.

Oakland Raiders 16, Kansas City Chiefs 13 in O.T.

The Raiders dumped the Chiefs in O.T. last weekend.  Kyle Orton completed 21 of 36 passes for 300 yards with 1 TD pass and 2 INTs.  Jackie Battle led the way for the Chiefs on the ground with 56 yards rushing on 14 carries (4.0 ypc).  Thomas Jones pitched in with 11 carries for 51 yards (4.6 ypc).  Dexter McCluster was busy as he carried the ball 3 times for 15 yards (5.0 ypc) and he also caught 5 passes for 89 yards (17.8 avg) in this game.  WR Dwayne Bowe led the way in the passing game for the Chiefs with 6 receptions for 80 yards (13.3 avg) and a TD.  WRs Terrance Copper (3 rec, 61 yards) and Steve Breaston (4 rec, 41 yards) also pitched in for the Chiefs in the passing game.  The Chiefs finished up with 135 yards rushing on 30 carries (4.5 ypc) and they also completed 21 of 36 passes (58.3%) for 300 yards as they had possession of the ball for 32:39.  Ryan Succop got a chance to win this game as time expired but he had his 49-yard field goal attempt blocked by DE Trevor Scott, and the Chiefs never got the ball back.

The defense played great until O.T. for the Chiefs.  LBs Derrick Johnson (7 tackles, 2 passes defensed and 1 interception) and Tamba Hali (6 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss and 1 QB hit) led the way for the Chiefs on D in this game.  CB Javier Arenas pitched in with 2 tackles, 1 pass defensed and 1 interception.  The Raiders finished up with 71 yards rushing on 25 carries (2.8 ypc) and they also completed 16 of 26 passes (61.5%) for 237 yards.  The Chiefs are now 6-9 on the season.

Kansas City Chiefs 19, Green Bay Packers 14

The Chiefs looked like a new team today with Romeo Crennel making his debut as the head coach and Kyle Orton getting his first start at QB.  Orton completed 23 of 31 passes for 299 yards without a  TD pass or INT.  Thomas Jones led the way on the ground for the Chiefs today with 48 yards rushing on 15 carries (3.2 ypc) and he also caught 1 pass for 27 yards.  Jackie Battle pitched in with 37 yards rushing on 10 carries with 1 TD run.  Le’Ron McClain pitched in with 20 yards rushing on 4 carries (5.0 ypc) and he also caught 4 passes for 26 yards (6.5 avg) today.  TE Leonard Pope (2 rec, 72 yards), WR Steve Breaston (4 receptions for 50 yards and 1 carry for 25 yards) and WR Dwayne Bowe (4 rec, 49 yards) led the way in the passing game today.  The Chiefs finished up with 139 yards rushing on 39 carries (3.6 ypc) and they also completed 23 of 31 passes (74.2%) for 299 yards as they had possession of the ball for 36:11.

The defense gave an outstanding team effort today.  LB Derrick Johnson (7 tackles and 1 pass defensed) and OLB Tamba Hali (4 tackles, 3 sacks, 1 tackle for a loss and 2 QB hits) led the way on D for the Chiefs today.  The Packers finished up with 102 yards rushing on 18 carries (5.7 ypc) and they also completed 17 of 35 passes (48.6%) for 213 yards in this game.  The Chiefs are now 6-8 on the year.

New York Jets 37, Kansas City Chiefs 10

The Chiefs never had much of a chance yesterday as the Jets kicked their butts.  Tyler Palko completed 16 of 32 passes for 195 yards with 1 TD pass and 1 INT.  He also carried the ball 1 time for 12 yards in this game.  Jackie Battle led the way on the ground for the Chiefs with 33 yards rushing on 10 carries (3.3 ypc) and he also caught 2 passes for 26 yards (13.0 avg).  Thomas Jones pitched in with 12 yards rushing on 5 carries (2.4 ypc).  WRs Dwayne Bowe (6 rec, 69 yards), Steve Breaston (4 rec, 44 yards) and Jerheme Urban (2 rec, 28 yards, TD) led the way in the passing game for the Chiefs.  The Chiefs finished up with 65 yards rushing on 21 carries (3.1 ypc) and they also completed 16 of 32 passes (50%) for 156 yards as they had possession of the ball for only 22:18.

The defense did the best that they could as they were clearly overmatched.  LB Derrick Johnson led the way for the Chiefs yesterday with 12 tackles, 2 tackles for a loss and 1 fumble recovery.  DE Glenn Dorsey (9 tackles), DE Tyson Jackson (8 tackles and 1 tackle for a loss) and OLB Tamba Hali (7 tackles and 1 sack) also played solid football yesterday.  The Jets finished up with 159 yards rushing on 42 carries (3.8 ypc) and they also completed 13 of 21 passes (61.9%) for 155 yards.  The Chiefs are now 5-8 on the year.

The defense was incredible for the Chiefs today and they are the reason they won this game over the Bears.  The Chiefs sacked Bears’ QBs 7 times today, as they were playing in the Bears’ backfield quite a lot in this game.  LB Derrick Johnson led the way for the Chiefs on D today with 8 tackles, 1 sack, 2 tackles for a loss and 2 QB hits.  Rookie OLB Justin Houston also had a huge impact on this game for the Chiefs.  Houston had 7 tackles, 3 sacks, 3 tackles for a loss, 1 pass defensed and 2 QB hits).  LB Jovan Belcher was also solid with 7 tackles and 1 tackle for a loss for the Chiefs today.  Safety Jon McGraw, CB Javier Arenas and CB Brandon Carr each picked off one pass apiece in this game for the Chiefs.  The Bears finished up with 93 yards rushing on 24 carries (3.9 ypc) and they also completed 11 of 24 passes (45.8%) for 88 yards in this game.

The offense just did enough to win today for the Chiefs.  Tyler Palko completed 17 of 30 passes for 157 yards with 1 TD pass and 0 INTs.  His TD pass was on a Hail Mary on the last play of the second quarter to Dexter McCluster.  Palko got yanked in this game for one play as Kyle Orton dislocated his index finger on his first pass, which fell incomplete.  Dexter McCluster was the offensive star of this game for the Chiefs.  He carried the ball 9 times for 61 yards (6.8 ypc) and he also caught 4 passes for 46 yards (11.5 avg) with 1 TD grab in this game.  Thomas Jones (16 carries for 36 yards) and Jackie Battle (11 carries for 15 yards) didn’t do much against the Bears today.  WRs Dwayne Bowe (4 rec, 49 yards) and Steve Breaston (5 rec, 41 yards) led the way in the passing game today for the Chiefs.  The Chiefs finished up with 113 yards rushing on 37 carries (3.1 ypc) and they also completed 17 of 31 passes (54.8%) for 139 yards as they had possession of the ball for 32:42.  The Chiefs are now 5-7 on the year.

Pittsburgh Steelers 13, Kansas City Chiefs 9

The Kansas City Chiefs wasted an outstanding effort from their defense tonight.  Tyler Palko was pathetic once again tonight as he completed 18 of 28 passes for 167 yards with 0 TD passes and 3 INTs.  Thomas Jones led the way on the ground for the Chiefs tonight with 37 yards rushing on 13 carries (2.8 ypc).  Dexter McCluster pitched in with 28 yards rushing on 9 carries (3.1 ypc) and he also caught 2 passes for 11 yards (5.5 avg).  Jackie Battle didn’t have a good night with 9 carries for 20 yards (2.2 ypc) in this game.  WRs Dwayne Bowe (7 rec, 69 yards) and Steve Breaston (4 rec, 44 yards) led the way in the passing game for the Chiefs tonight.  The Chiefs finished up with 90 yards rushing on 34 carries (2.6 ypc) and they also completed 18 of 28 passes (64.3%) for 162 yards as they had possession of the ball for 26:30.

The defense was outstanding tonight for the Chiefs.  LB Derrick Johnson (9 tackles), CB Brandon Carr (5 tackles and 1 pass defensed) and LB Jovan Belcher (5 tackles) led the way on D for the Chiefs tonight.  CBs Javier Arenas (fumble recovery) and Travis Daniels (interception) also had big plays tonight for the Chiefs.  The Steelers finished up with 108 yards rushing on 28 carries (3.9 ypc) and they also completed 21 of 31 passes (67.7%) for 182 yards in this game.  The Chiefs are now 4-7 on the season.

New England Patriots 34, Kansas City Chiefs 3

The Chiefs played hard in this game but they were simply overmatched in all three phases of the game.  Tyler Palko is not an NFL caliber QB and it showed tonight as he completed 25 of 38 passes for 236 yards with 0 TD passes and 3 INTs.  Thomas Jones led the way on the ground for the Chiefs in this game with 48 yards rushing on 8 carries (6.0 ypc).  Dexter McCluster (8 carries for 39 yards) and Jackie Battle (8 carries for 33 yards) also pitched in on the ground for the Chiefs in this game.  WRs Dwayne Bowe (7 rec, 87 yards) and Steve Breaston (6 rec, 73 yards) led the way in the passing game for the Chiefs.  The Chiefs finished up with 119 yards rushing on 26 carries (4.6 ypc) and they also completed 25 of 38 passes (65.8%) for 215 yards as they had possession of the ball for 31:30.

The defense wasn’t too good for the Chiefs tonight.  LB Derrick Johnson led the way for the Chiefs in this game with 12 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss and 1 pass defensed.  Safety Donald Washington (8 tackles and 1 QB hit) and CB Javier Arenas (8 tackles) also pitched in on D for the Chiefs in this game.  The Patriots rushed for 157 yards on 35 carries (4.5 ypc) and they also completed 15 of 27 passes (55.6%) for 223 yards.  The Chiefs also had a big blunder on special teams as Julian Edelman of the Patriots returned a punt 72 yards for a TD.  The Chiefs are now 4-6 on the year.

Denver Broncos 17, Kansas City Chiefs 10

The Chiefs were terrible yesterday, plain and simple.  Matt Cassel was pathetic once again as he completed 13 of 28 passes for 93 yards with 1 TD pass and 0 INTs.  He also carried the ball 2 times for 16 yards (8.0 ypc) in this game.  Tyler Palko came in after Cassel was banged up and he completed 5 of 6 passes for 47 yards and he also carried the ball 1 time for 8 yards.  Jackie Battle led the way on the ground for the Chiefs yesterday with 9 carries for 61 yards (6.8 ypc).  Dexter McCluster pitched in with 45 yards rushing on 8 carries (5.6 ypc) and he also caught 6 passes for 48 yards (8.0 avg) in this game.  FB Le’Ron McClain didn’t carry the ball but he did catch 2 passes for 9 yards with a TD catch.  WR Steve Breaston led the way in the passing game for the Chiefs yesterday with 4 grabs for 33 yards (8.3 avg).  The Chiefs finished up with 134 yards rushing on 24 carries (5.6 ypc) and they also completed 18 of 34 passes (52.9%) for 124 yards as they only had the ball in 26:22.

The defense was outstanding against the pass, but not so good against the run yesterday.  LBs Jovan Belcher (10 tackles) and Derrick Johnson (9 tackles) led the way for the Chiefs in this game defensively.  DEs Glenn Dorsey (6 tackles) and Tyson Jackson (6 tackles and 1 tackle for a loss) also pitched in for the Chiefs yesterday.  The Broncos finished up with 244 yards rushing on 55 carries (4.4 ypc) and they also completed 2 of 8 passes (25%) for 69 yards in this game.  The Chiefs are now 4-5 on the year.

Miami Dolphins 31, Kansas City Chiefs 3

The Kansas City Chiefs got ambushed by the Dolphins at Arrowhead Stadium yesterday.  Matt Cassel was so-so for the Chiefs in this game as he completed 20 of 39 passes for 253 yards with 0 TD passes and 0 INTs.  He also carried the ball 9 times for 38 yards (4.2 ypc) in this game.  Jackie Battle (14 carries, 40 yards, 2.9 ypc) and Dexter McCluster (7 carries for 36 yards, 5.1 ypc) led the way on the ground for the Chiefs in this game.  WRs Steve Breaston (7 rec, 115 yards, 16.4 avg) and Dwayne Bowe (6 rec, 88 yards, 14.7 avg) led the way in the passing game for the Chiefs yesterday.  The Chiefs finished up with 116 yards rushing on 34 carries (3.4 ypc) and they also completed 20 of 39 passes (51.3%) for 227 yards as they had possession of the ball for 34:39.

The defense was pretty bad for the Chiefs yesterday.  LB Jovan Belcher (8 tackles), CB Brandon Flowers (6 tackles) and LB Derrick Johnson (5 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss) led the way on D yesterday for the Chiefs.  The Dolphins finished up with 107 yards rushing on 24 carries (4.5 ypc) and they have completed 17 of 23 passes (73.9%) for 244 yards in this game.  The Chiefs’ four game winning streak ended with a thud and they are now 4-4 on the year.

The Chiefs got a hard fought win last night over the Chargers in O.T. last night.  Chiefs’ LB Andy Studebaker recovered a Philip Rivers’ fumble with 48 seconds left in the game at the Chiefs’ 15 yard line to send the game into O.T.  The Chargers got the ball first and the Chiefs shut them down, three and out.  The Chiefs then drove down the field and kicker Ryan Succop whacked the game winning field goal.  Matt Cassel didn’t have his best game by any stretch of the imagination.  Cassel completed 19 for 32 passes for 261 yards with 1 TD pass and 2 INTs.  He also lost a fumble and had 2 carries for 14 yards (7.0 ypc) last night.  Jackie Battle led the way for the Chiefs on the ground with 70 yards rushing on 19 carries (3.7 ypc) with 1 TD run.  Rookie WR Jonathan Baldwin had a breakout game for the Chiefs with 5 grabs for 82 yards (16.4 avg) with 1 TD grab.  WRs Dwayne Bowe (4 rec, 62 yards) and Steve Breaston (3 rec, 42 yards) also pitched in for the Chiefs in the passing game last night.  The Chiefs finished up with 94 yards rushing on 32 carries (2.9 ypc) and they also completed 19 of 32 passes (59.4%) for 247 yards as they had possession of the ball for 32:15.

The Chiefs made big plays on D when they had to last night, but they gave up a lot of yards.  LB Derrick Johnson led the way for the Chiefs’ D last night with 13 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss, 1 sack, 1 pass defensed, 1 QB hit and 1 interception.  CB Brandon Carr (6 tackles) and safety Kendrick Lewis (1 fumble recovery and 1 interception) also had decent games for the Chiefs last night.  The Chargers finished up with 102 yards rushing on 27 carries (3.8 ypc) and they also completed 26 of 41 passes (63.4%) for 345 yards.  The Chiefs are now 4-3 on the year.
