The Chiefs have signed 26-year old lefty throwing QB Tyler Palko.  Palko was the Steelers’ #4 QB last season and he will come to training camp to compete with Matt Gutierrez for the #3 job on the Chiefs this season.  He was a good college QB at Pitt but he probably doesn’t have the arm strength to succeed in the NFL.

The Kansas City Chiefs sign fullback Tim Castille

The Chiefs have signed 25-year old fullback Tim Castille.  Castille has played in 14 games in his NFL career and he has caught 4 passes for 11 yards (2.8 avg).  He also has 8 tackles in his young NFL career showing a willingness to play on special teams.  This was a good signing for the Chiefs as Castille knows Coach Haley’s system having played for him in Arizona.

The Chiefs have signed 27-year old cornerback Travis  Daniels.  Daniels played in 7 games last season for the Browns and he had 5 tackles.  Daniels has now played 4 years in the NFL covering 51 games in which he has made 130 tackles, defensed 20 passes and he has 3 interceptions.  This was a good move for the Chiefs who need all of the help they can get in the secondary.

The Kansas City Chiefs sign OLB Justin Rogers

Blogged under Free Agent Additions, Bloglockers, Front Page, Big Chiefs News, General Chiefs Discussion by admin on Thursday 15 October 2009 at 7:42 pm

The Chiefs have signed 26-year old OLB Justin Rogers.  Rogers played with the Cowboys last season appearing in 15 games and making 16 tackles.  Rogers has now played in 31 games in his NFL career and he has made 34 tackles.  Look for Rogers to help out with depth at linebacker and on special teams.

UPDATE:  The Chiefs have already cut Justin Rogers to make room on the roster for OT Barry Richardson who was signed off the practice squad.  He will be active tomorrow against the Redskins as starting OT Branden Albert is out for tomorrow’s game due to a ankle injury.

UPDATE II:  The Chiefs have re-signed Justin Rogers.

UPDATE III:  The Chiefs have released Justin Rogers again just one day after re-signing him.

The Kansas City Chiefs sign Leonard Pope

The Chiefs have signed 26-year old TE Leonard Pope.  Pope played in 13 games for the Cardinals last season and he made 9 catches for 77 yards (8.6 avg).  He has now played in 42 games in his NFL career and he has caught 48 passes for 476 yards (9.9 avg) with 5 TD grabs.  With the Chiefs starving for a TE, Coach Todd Haley decided to bring in a player that was with him in Arizona.  This was a good signing but don’t expect Pope to be the next Tony Gonzalez.
