The Kansas City Chiefs sign WR Steve Breaston
The Chiefs have signed 27-year old WR Steve Breaston to a 5-year contract. Breaston played in 13 games (11 starts) for the Cardinals last year and he caught 47 passes for 718 yards (15.3 avg) with 1 TD grab. Those are amazing numbers to put up seeing how the Cardinals’ QBs really sucked last year. Breaston also carried the ball 3 times for 35 yards (11.7 ypc) last year. Breaston has now played in 60 games (26 starts) in his first four years in the NFL and he has caught 187 passes for 2,528 yards (13.5 avg) with 7 TD grabs. He also has carried the ball 9 times for 96 yards (10.7 ypc) so far in his NFL career. Breaston has also returned 113 punts for 885 yards (7.8 avg) with a TD return and he has returned 102 kickoffs for 2,220 yards (21.8 avg). The Chiefs have the return game taken care of, so Breaston will only be a return man if the Chiefs suffer some injuries. Chiefs’ QB Matt Cassel has to be really foaming at the mouth right now as the prospects of throwing the ball to Breaston, Dwayne Bowe, rookie WR Jonathan Baldwin and TE Tony Moeaki.
