Kansas City Chiefs 20, Dallas Cowboys 26 OT

The Kansas City Chiefs (0-5) built a 13-3 lead late into the 3rd quarter Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys (3-2), but it was not enough to keep the Cowboys away.  The Chiefs could not contain Roy Williams’ back-up Miles Austin, as the undrafted receiver had a record breaking day for the Cowboys.  Austin had two touchdowns and caught ten passes for 250 yards.  That is not typo, as the Chiefs secondary was awful today and let a bench player go for a franchise record 250 yards.  They also let Tashard Choice, another bench player, go for 92 yards on eight carries (11.5 avg) and a touchdown.

The Chiefs did have an impressive game-tying drive with under a minute left.  Matt Cassel drove the Chiefs down field and tied the game with a 16 yard touchdown pass to Dwayne Bowe with 24 seconds.  Cassel finished the day with two touchdown passes with 253 passing yards on 23/41 attempts (56%).  Cassel and the Chiefs could not continue that momentum into overtime though, as Romo and Austin hooked up and got a huge game winning 60-yard touchdown.  The Chiefs are not used to having a lead and completely blew it today, letting two bench players treat them like a Pop Warner team.  Austin proved he is a very talented receiver but an NFL team should never give up 250 yards to one receiver, especially when he isn’t even a regular starter.  The Chiefs will be looking for their first win next week against the Washington Redskins (2-3).
