The Kansas City Chiefs might need to start over at QB in 2009
The Chiefs ran through 4 QBs last season and none of them really separated from the pack. The Chiefs used to consider Brodie Croyle the QB of the future but he has been injury prone. He played in 2 games (both starts) last season and he completed 20 of 29 passes (69%) for 151 yards with 0 TD passes and 0 interceptions (81.3 QB Rating). He also has carried the ball 10 times for 15 yards (1.5 ypc) in his career.
35-year old Damon Huard has likely played his last game with the Chiefs. He also carried the football 52 times for 148 yards (2.8 ypc) in his NFL career.
24-year old Tyler Thigpen surprised the Chiefs by playing decent in 2008. It will be interesting to see if he is capable of building on his success or if he fades away. He played in 14 games (11 starts) for the Chiefs last season and he completed 230 of 420 passes (54.8%) for 2,608 yards with 18 TD passes and 12 interceptions (76.0 QB Rating). 29-year old Quinn Gray signed on after Brodie Croyle and Damon Huard went down with injuries during the 2008 season. He played in 1 game (0 starts) for the Chiefs last season and he completed 7 of 8 passes (87.5%) for 76 yards with 1 TD pass and 0 interceptions (145.8 QB Rating).
