Herman Edwards is a big part of the problem with the Kansas City Chiefs

The Kansas City Chiefs lost their last 9 games in a row last season as they finished tied for last place in the AFC West with a 4-12 record.  The Chiefs are now 13-19 in two seasons under Edwards watch and they are 0-1 in the playoffs.  The problem with Edwards is that the Chiefs offense is way too conservative and that’s a big problem because their defense is not that good which compounds that problem.  Edwards has now been a head coach in the NFL for 7 seasons now and he is 52-60 (.464 %) in the regular season and he is 2-4 (.333 %) in the post season.

The Chiefs could be in the market for a new QB or two in the off-season as Damon Huard slipped in performance and Brodie Croyle didn’t look like the answer in his extended tryout this season.  Huard played in 11 games this year for the Chiefs and he completed 206 of 332 passes (62%) for 2,257 yards with 11 TD passes and 13 interceptions (76.8 QB Rating).  He also has carried the ball 9 times for -1 yard (-0.1 ypc).  Huard has now played in 59 games in his NFL career and he has completed 524 of 865 passes (60.6%) for 5,826 yards with 31 TD passes and 22 interceptions (82.0 QB Rating).  He also has carried the football 48 times for 135 yards (2.8 ypc).

Brodie Croyle played in 9 games this season for the Chiefs and he completed 127 of 224 passes (56.7%) for 1,227 yards with 6 TD passes and 6 interceptions (69.9 QB Rating).  He also carried the ball 7 times for 18 yards (2.6 ypc) this season.  Croyle has now played in 11 games in his career and he has completed 130 of 231 passes (56.3%) for 1,250 yards with 6 TD passes and 8 interceptions (65.8 QB Rating).  He also has carried the ball 10 times for 15 yards (1.5 ypc).

Rookie Tyler Thigpen was signed away from the Vikings practice squad and he didn’t show much before hurting himself.  He played in 1 game for the Chiefs and he completed 2 of 6 passes (33.3%) for 41 yards with 1 interception (18.8 QB Rating).

The Herman Edwards toilet bowl lived up to expectations last Sunday but the Chiefs were awful.  Brodie Croyle was not good as he completed 20 of 43 passes for 195 yards with a TD pass.  Jackie Battle was the leading rusher on the Chiefs with 44 yards on 13 carries (3.4 ypc).  Tony Gonzalez (7 rec, 64 yards) and Jeff Webb (4 rec, 49 yards, TD) led the way in the passing game for the Chiefs on Sunday.  The Chiefs finished up with 53 yards rushing on 19 carries (2.8 ypc) and they also completed 20 of 43 passes for 166 yards.

Napoleon Harris (18 tackles), Bernard Pollard (11 tackles) and Keyaron Fox (10 tackles) led the way for the Chiefs on defense.  The Jets finished up with 199 yards rushing on 45 carries (4.4 ypc) and they also completed 14 of 26 passes for 138 yards.
