The Kansas City Chiefs won this football game because of the defense and the late play of QB Damon Huard.  Huard looked like a different QB this week as he completed 20 of 29 passes for 206 yards with 1 TD pass and 0 interceptions.  RB Larry Johnson was bottled up the whole game long as he carried the football 24 times for 42 yards (1.8 ypc) and he also caught 1 pass for a loss of 5 yards.  TE Tony Gonzalez had by far his best game of the season as he caught 7 passes for 96 yards (13.7 avg) and WR Dwyane Bowe was also outstanding with 5 catches for 71 yards (14.2 avg) including the eventual game-winning TD reception.  The Chiefs only finished up with 50 yards rushing on 31 carries (1.6 ypc) and they completed 20 of 29 passes for 201 yards.

The defense was outstanding for the Chiefs.  Derrick Johnson led the way with 10 tackles but it was the defensive ends who were the real stars of the defense.  DEs Jared Allen (8 tackles, 2 sacks) and Tamba Hali (2 tackles, 2 sacks) were both outstanding as they kept the pressure on Vikings’ QB Kelly Holcomb all game long.  The Vikings finished up rushing for 123 yards on 29 carries (4.2 ypc) and they completed 14 of 29 passes for 129 yards.
