The Kansas City Chiefs release OT Kyle Turley

Blogged under Big Chiefs News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General Chiefs Discussion by dawgpounded on Sunday 25 March 2007 at 1:36 am

Kyle Turley only played in 7 games last season (all starts), but those were his first games in a long time as he didn’t play a game in 2004 or 2005 due to a bad back.  Turley’s career is likely over.

The Chiefs release safety Sammy Knight

The Chiefs have decided to release safety Sammy Knight.  Younger players have emerged that the Chiefs feel confident in that come at a cheaper price tag.  Knight still has game and shouldn’t have any problem finding a new job.  He played in all 16 games for the Chiefs last year and he made 83 tackles, had 2 sacks, 1 interception, defensed 3 passes and forced a fumble.

The Kansas City Chiefs sign DT Alfonso Boone

The Chiefs have signed Boone to a 4-year contract worth starters money even though he has been a backup to this point in his career.  Boone played in 12 games for the Bears last season and he made 26 tackles and had 2 sacks.  The 6’4″, 318 pound Boone should help the Chiefs run defense big time and they need that.

The Chiefs re-sign a couple of Defensive Linemen

Blogged under Big Chiefs News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General Chiefs Discussion by dawgpounded on Sunday 18 March 2007 at 5:05 pm

The Chiefs have re-signed DTs Ron Edwards and Jimmy Wilkerson.  Edwards played in all 16 games last season for the Chiefs and he made 20 tackles, sacked the QB 2.5 times and defensed a pass.  Wilkerson played in 13 games and made 24 tackles and defensed 2 passes.  These were good signings as you can never have enough decent D-linemen.

The Chiefs bring back linebacker Donnie Edwards

Blogged under Big Chiefs News,Bloglockers,Free Agent Additions,Front Page,General Chiefs Discussion by dawgpounded on Sunday 11 March 2007 at 12:34 am

The Chiefs have signed Donnie Edwards to a three-year, $14 million dollar contract.  Edwards was awesome last season for the Chargers as he played in all 16 games and he made 141 tackles, has 2.5 sacks, intercepted 3 passes, defensed 4 passes, forced a fumble and recovered a fumble.  Even though Edwards is getting old he has shown no signs of slowing down and he will definately improve the Chiefs defense.  Edwards has been incredible as he’s had 10 straight seasons of 100+ tackles.

The Chiefs sign long snapper Jean Philippe Darche to a 4 year contract

Blogged under Bloglockers,Free Agent Additions,Front Page,General Chiefs Discussion by dawgpounded on Wednesday 7 March 2007 at 11:59 pm

Darche only played 1 game last season due to injury.  He has played in 97 games in 7 seasons in Seattle and he’s good at snapping the ball so this move will help the Chiefs a little bit.

The Chiefs sign MLB Napoleon Harris

Blogged under Big Chiefs News,Bloglockers,Free Agent Additions,Front Page,General Chiefs Discussion by dawgpounded on Tuesday 6 March 2007 at 6:59 pm

The Chiefs have given Napoleon Harris a six year contract to play with them.  Harris played in 14 games last season with the Vikings last season and he had 59 tackles, 2.5 sacks, 3 interceptions, defensed 1 pass and forced a fumble.  Herman Edwards must think he can light a fire under Harris who has talent but hasn’t put up big numbers thus far in his career.

The Chiefs sign OT Damion McIntosh to a 6-year contract

Blogged under Big Chiefs News,Bloglockers,Free Agent Additions,Front Page,General Chiefs Discussion by dawgpounded on Sunday 4 March 2007 at 5:57 pm

The Kansas City Chiefs have signed Damion McIntosh to a 6 year contract to play left tackle for them.  He’s a 6’4″, 320 pound nasty man that likes to hit people.  He started 13 games for the Dolphins last season and he’s started 80 of the 84 games that he’s played over his career.  He is 30 years old, so you have to question the length of the contract but he should play well for at least the next couple of seasons.  LT was a big hole on the Chiefs and Trent Green & Damon Huard are probably smiling today.
