Chiefs look bad again losing 9-6 in OT

Herman Edwards is an awful coach.  He played so conservative that the Broncos were handed a victory.  Damon Huard completed 17 of 23 passes (73.9%) for 133 yards.  RB Larry Johnson carried the ball 27 times for 126 yards (4.7 ypc) and caught 5 passes for 41 yards (8.2 avg).  WR Eddie Kennison caught 2 passes for 39 yards (19.5 avg).  Samie Parker caught 5 passes for 37 yards (7.4 avg).  TE Tony Gonzalez caught 2 passes for 7 yards.  Why in the world isn’t Edwards using Gonzalez?  Is he that stupid?

The Chiefs defense held the Broncos without a TD, so they did their job.  The Broncos rushed the ball 36 times for 145 yards (4.0 ypc).  The Broncos only completed 53.3% of their passes for 173 net yards in the air.

I totally agree. Edwards promised he would not tinker with the offense as of yet at the beginning of training camp, but that is just a lie. If not for Cincinnati playing prevent defense in game 1, this offense would be shut out of the end zone. What would you call it when you have the most prolific offense in the past 4 seasons turned into the worse overnight? That is called meddling and screwing with the chemistry of the team. Blame it on Roaf, blame it on Trent’s injury, blame it on a new offenseive coordinator, when push comes to shove, it all comes back to the Head Coach!

I agree with you totally. I was talking to a Jets fan in Las Vegas over the weekend and he was laughing at the Chiefs for giving up anything for Herman Edwards. In fact, he said the Jets would be better just by getting rid of him.

Remember Marty Ball? Hermie Ball appears to have even less promise. Why go out and get a coach with a losing record? Why get an offensively conservative coach when Marty demonstrated (very clearly) that approach doesn’t get you very far.

Yes, the Chiefs need better D–but why does that mean the offense should die? Can’t they shoot to be potent on both sides of the ball?

And how effective do you think LJ is going to be when teams start putting 8 or 9 in the box because there is no pass threat? How long do you think he will last? Stretching the field opens up the running game. Hermie, LJ and the Chiefs are likely to find that out the hard way.

I hope they have a good backup for LJ.

Herman Edwards is as dumb as a brick. Is Tony Gonzalez still on the Chiefs roster? Didn’t Eddie Kennison go over 1,000 yards last season? Didn’t Herman Edwards say in a press conference once “You play to win the game?” If so, what is this garbage the Chiefs are putting on the field? You’re right hermiehater….Michael Bennett better be ready for when Larry Johnson gets dinged up or just tired from being the whole offense.

First off.Doesn’t it come down to the owner?Isn’t he the one who hired Herm,or is it Herb, because he was definately smoking something to make those calls. All Herb is going to do is shorten the career of Larry J. Huard did a good job I thought, but if Herb was concerned for the offense, why didn’t he try and pick up a good backup for Trent? He is a defensive coach, was a defensive player, and will spend a lot of time on defending his decisions.

Herman Edwards is just an awful football coach plain and simple. If he was a white guy, he would have never got this shot after how he coached in NY.

It seems to me that the Chiefs has things to easy, why they will not play at their best all the time. When their Manager threatened their stability as a mamber of the team they seem to play very well, but as soon as they feel comfortable on the team their play ‘SUCKS’. And what has happened to Priest Holms, why cant he play;Johnson almost had his head ripped off of him yet he is playing, so whats the big deal about Priest Holmes; I would like to know.

I observed it on the TV news that to enter the Chiefs compound in 2010 to watch a game is going to cost us a ARM and a LEG. Now if the Chiefs continue to play as they did today we will come, but only to them bid them good bye.

Have you been under a rock? Priest Holmes hurt his neck in the middle of last season and hasn’t been cleared to return to the field. His career may be over.
